This policy explains what personal information OnlyExperts collects, why, and what your rights are. OnlyExperts is run by OnlyExperts. We are the data controller for the information described here.
What we collect
Customers
- Your name, email address and mobile number (checked by SMS code).
- The details of the jobs you post: category, description, dates and times, pick-up and delivery addresses, house or flat numbers and any photos you add.
- Messages you send to traders through OnlyExperts, and the quotes you receive and accept.
Traders
- Your name, business name and type, business address, email and mobile number.
- The services and areas you cover, your prices and rates.
- Documents you upload, such as public liability or hire & reward insurance and qualifications.
- Your quotes, messages and the reviews customers leave about you.
Everyone
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device, and cookies (see our Cookie policy).
Why we use it
- To run the service you asked for (our contract with you): posting jobs, sending them to suitable traders, quotes, messages and accounts.
- To keep the platform safe (our legitimate interests): checking traders’ documents, preventing fraud and abuse, and keeping records of what happened on a job.
- To meet legal obligations, for example tax and accounting records.
- Marketing, only with your consent – you can withdraw it at any time.
Who sees your information
- Traders see your job details and your town while they quote. Your full address, phone number and email are only shared with the trader whose quote you accept.
- Customers see a trader’s business name, profile, badges, prices and reviews. Insurance documents themselves are never shown publicly.
- Service providers who help us run OnlyExperts: website hosting (IONOS), SMS verification (BulkGate), email (Brevo and our email provider), maps and address search (Google Maps), and payments if you buy a trader package (Stripe). They only use your information on our instructions.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Job records, quotes and messages are kept for up to 6 years after the job, in case of a dispute or a legal claim, and are then deleted or anonymised. Trader documents are kept while you are an active partner and for up to 6 years after.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, ask us to limit or stop using it, object to how we use it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere.
